GENEROUS DONATIONS

also...
i received my first donation.... 20 pounds from the lovely flo hariton!!
and...
I was on the phone to audrey wilson-hay (rosie's mum) who has kindly offered to contribute with a donation all the way from aberdeen!! very exciting!

Cubanas

Charlotte has secured our first sponsorship money for drugs and medical equipment for Kenema - Cubana has given us £50!!! yay!!! That will buy us half a fetal heart rate monitor for the obstetric ward at the hospital, which is v. exciting.
Becky has costed out the following medical equipment and drugs which we are raising money for:

Ibuprofen - 2.5p per 400mg
Aspirin - 1p per 325mg
ORS - 20p per sachet
Ultrasound machine (huge variation in price depending on age,
condition, portability) but a reliable proper one - £6422
Foetal heart monitor - £100
Blood pressure cuff - £10
Stethoscope - £50
Cannulas - £2 each
Pulse oximeter - £25
Vacuum extractor (kiwi) - £85
Sutures - £2.20 each

Meeting extraordinaire....where Caz decided to be an estate agent!

Productive meeting guys, this is what we discussed and jobs allocated:

1) Internal transport

-Ch&B to look into travel agents in Peckham

2) Fundraising

-Medsoc unlikely to help
-Ch to confirm Cubana's event, food, band, date (provisional 14th April), raffle, donation etc
-Ch to chase up rugby/football event
-Ch to chase up Bea family band gig
-Discussed possibility of summer event: rounders, dodgeball, house party
-Ca to finalise fundraising letter this weekend and post on Monday
-Ch is designing a team logo
-A&R to ask at medicine overseas conference about how to get prescription drugs
-Ch to ask MHRA about prescription drugs
-A to email Dr Khan again
-People to ask about getting supplies:
-Ch: Cecelia, Mel
-Ca: Jonno's friend in Zim, parents friend
-B: Andy Leather etc, Kate's parents
-R: Dad and dentist friends
-Ca to chase up chalet auction plan
-B to ask in WEC about cake sale

3) Blog

-Everyone to do a massive invite (acknowledge the googlemail account annoyance, but it's for a really good cause etc)
-A to email previous elective students and ask them to put their abstracts on blog

4) Equipment

-Hopefully use the military post thing to ship stuff over
-A to talk to her Dad about writing the military letter....in black fountain pen!
-B to do a price list of equipment
-Ch to ask her dad about cheap batteries for handheld stuff

That was about it but we need to set another meeting date.

I've done pricing, some stuff is cheaper in the states and some over here. I asked in the WEC and I have an email address for the woman who organises such things as cake sales so I'll email her - the reception guy was hopeful we'd be allowed.
